Day 3

Genesis 7-10, 1 Chronicles 1:5-23

The Great Purge, man could you imagine….. You were told to build a boat, people thought you were nuts. You were following directions from God just doing what you were told, you didn’t ask to be ridiculed, you didn’t ask for people to talk about you behind your back, you didn’t want your family to be the punch line of every joke. But it’s the price you pay when you are Counter Culture. Noah is living a life pleasing to one person and one person only God. Everyone else around him was living a life to please one person also but that was themselves, little did they know that there was going to be a Purge happening. It is interesting to me that there is nothing noted in scriptures about what was happening in the world when the flood waters were rising. But I guess it makes sense it shouldn’t matter.

Noah and his wife are now a repeat of Adam and Eve. They have been given the opportunity to start over.  If you had the chance to start over what would it look like?  Would you change your habits, try and not eat as much, drink as much, spend as much money? What’s crazy is Noah listened to what God had in store for him but yet still sinned, he still fell short. Get drunk and naked Noah come on!!

What’s left in this section… Well, we dive into genealogies, Noah’s sons and who is in each of their family lines. We find out that under the lineage of Shem there is Peleg and this is when the world was divided into different language groups. One important thing in this section of scripture is that from Noah’s sons Japheth, Ham and Shem “All nations of the earth descended from these clans after the great flood.”

There are some important lineage notes in here,

Japheth’s descendants take to the water and spread out to various lands.

Ham’s descendants produce Nimrod, they build the city Nineveh, the Philistines come out of this lineage.

Shem’s descendants produced Peleg during his time the world was divided into different language groups.
