Genesis 45:16-47:27
Hebrews 4:16 “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Jacob…… “Lost” his youngest son and now hears that he is still alive. There are some emotional ups and downs involved. Before Joseph’s death Jacob trusted and followed the Lord, there is a period of time between the loss and the reappearing, there is a loss of trust in the Lord for Jacob. Jacob tries to replace Joseph with Benjamin, the other son from Rachel.
I can imagine that there was questioning… Why did the Lord take my youngest son? Why is this happening to me? Jacob loses the big picture that has been given to him. He has lost hope, rather than trusting in the plan that God has for him.
If we continually run from God during bad times we will eventually lose sight of the bigger picture as the writer of Hebrews says, “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Jacob does the opposite of what he should do..
Doesn’t this seem like an example of our daily walk with the Lord? How many times during the day do we try and do things on our own? How many years have we given God just part of our lives? When are we going to give up everything and trust and follow the Lord?
