Day 19

Job 1:1-4:21

Friends…… Are you a Faucet, pouring into everyone, or are you the drain always depleting everyone? It would be awesome if we could all be faucets pouring into everyone. All of our friendships would look like waterfall after waterfall after waterfall. But in order for us to always be pouring into everyone we are draining ourselves little by little.

Job is a guy that we can all look up to. God describes Job to satan:

“And the Lord said to satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?”” Job 1:8

Wouldn’t it be awesome if we lived in a way that this is how God would describe you and I? We should always be living in a way that we are trying to be more and more like Jesus. God fully trusts that Job lives in a manner that if he is tested that he will always remain faithful. But are Jobs’ friends the same? Hardly.

Job is stripped of all of his wealth, all of his family, all of his belongings. But remains faithful.

His friends show up to be there for him and do a great job at first, they remain silent and listen. Being present is the best thing to do when we are with someone suffering. From faucets to drains all in the words we speak.
