Day 21

Job 8:1-11:22

“Rejoice always,  pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

What would have happened if Job’s friends said these words to him? Would the outcome have been different? Would Job have just laughed at what was happening to him and trusted in the Lord? Would he have become a Proverbs 3 guy?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Zophar comes at Job and tells him, this suffering is caused by some sin in your life, past or present. At the beginning of the book of Job, God describes Job:

“There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil.” Job 1:1

If Zophar was a true friend wouldn’t he see Job’s life and see who Job truly is? Job would be leading by example to his friends; he would have been the one that they looked up to.He would have been a faucet, pouring into those around him. But, His friends are blinded. Once again it comes down to… who do we surround ourselves with? Who do we allow into our inner circle? Do those around me really know who I am? What I stand for? What I believe?

Who do you let into your life? The person closest to you should be Jesus, He already knows every thought, every action. Jesus is a constant faucet that never shuts off, he is the living water, he gives us eternal life.
