29- Job 35:1-37:24, 30- Job 39:1–40:5, 31- Job 40:6-42:17
Three days into one. There are many key points in these three days. But they all point back to God and his creation. His creation of man and animals and weather. Most importantly our need for him, the Gospel.
Most believers don’t have to go far to see how amazing God is. This world that we live in has God written all over it. Look at trees, they seem like a simple organism that provides shade in the summertime and protection from the elements in the winter time. Animals seek shelter in them. But if you study trees just a little bit you will see their important role in the atmosphere, the important role of filtering carbon dioxide and sunlight to produce oxygen. Tree root structure helps fight erosion, helps maintain flourishing soil.
This is just trees, look out your window, look at all the plants, the animals. Everything has a purpose, God knew what the purpose would be and created a world that could heal itself and could be its own living ecosystem. Everything is working together.
God finally speaks to Job in 38. I love how God calls him out:
“Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding.Who determined its measurements—surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?” Job 38:4-5
“Dress for action like a man;….” Pretty sure if God is telling you this ya better be prepared because he is about to tell you to Man Up!
What God does in his last speech to Job and his friends shows mercy.
“………….And my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept his prayer not to deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.” So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did what the Lord had told them, and the Lord accepted Job’s prayer.” Job 42:8b-9
The book of Job is bookended with Alter scenes. The blood of the innocent for the sins of a sinner.
