Day 33

Exodus 4:18-7:13

We often talk about hard times in our life as valleys. It’s a low spot in our life where no matter what happens it always feels like you are going down, deeper and deeper and deeper into the valley. The crazy part about it is, we may walk in deep dark valleys but the Lord always has a plan for us. We may have to hit rock bottom to see his Grace and Mercy. We may end up feeling like there is now where else to go, God is with us. It may feel like the devil is attacking us just like Job, But, the Lord is right there with us.

God may give us a glimpse of what the future holds for us but first we may need to walk through the valley in preparation. Sometimes the valley is the sweetest part of the mountain top. You can look down and see everything that you went through to get to where you are.

Moses has been told by God that he will lead the Israelits out of Egypt. But I am not quite sure he knew what he was getting himself into. Moses and Aaron were going to be tools used by God to show the Egyptians how great and mighty he was. But the Israelites were going to be innocent bystanders. They may be innocent but they are going to see how great and mighty the Lord is through this valley as well.

After this presentation to Israel’s leaders, Moses and Aaron went and spoke to Pharaoh. They told him, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Let my people go so they may hold a festival in my honor in the wilderness.”” Exodus 5:1

After this presentation to Pharaoh, Pharaoh decided to make life hard for the Israelits.

The same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their foremen, “You shall no longer give the people straw to make bricks, as in the past; let them go and gather straw for themselves.” Exodus 5:6-7

I can just imagine what the Israelites were thinking when this happened.. “ What in the world did Moses and Aaron tell Pharaoh? They must have said the wrong thing to them. Why are we being punished?”

Valleys can always get deeper and will make the mountain top that much sweeter.

But the Lord said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh; for with a strong hand he will send them out, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land.” Exodus 6:1
